Every year on August 14, there is the "Chichibu Ondo Festival" in the town known for being its origin.
There are dance contests from all around town and the prefecture for a total of 1600 people in 70 teams each year. Many competitors and spectators will fill up the Festival Square and the commotion will echo throughout the shopping arcade and mountains in the region. After the contest is over, there will be a fireworks display launched from Minoyama that will brighten the summer night sky and bring further excitement to the festival.
Known as the origin of the Chichibu Ondo, Minano is famous for the Chichibu Ondo Festival. There are events throughout the year, such as lion dances, the Gion Festival, and many other festivals and religious services. The Chichibu region is known as a treasure trove of events, but Minano has many events large and small that are distinct to its mountainous location and it has a vivid history that is passed down even today.
